We are Front Porch Films. We are pursuing our love of americana, the blues, and everything in between via the medium of film. We’ve set up Front Porch Films to make quirky, interesting and ‘off the main road’ films about music, culture, and of course people.
Front Porch Films is comprised of long-time friends Iain Marshall and Stephen Bell.
They started Front Porch Films in order to document their longheld interest in music, culture and history. They are looking to blend these interests to tell compelling stories through film.
Stephen has a strong interest in independent films and film-making. This was, in part, cultivated whilst working with the British Film Institute in film exhibition and distribution.
Iain has a passion for Blues and Americana music. He is interested in trying to capture through film a more permanent record of his travels across the Southern States of America and beyond.
Shane Douglas has been a working musician around the Nashville Area for the last 30 years. In recent years he’s become a bit jaded with the scene.
To challenge this, Front Porch films took him on the road for a week across 3 Southern States ending in his West Virginia hometown of Martinsburg.
The aim of the trip is to help him rediscover his roots and passion for the music he loves playing.
Throughout our travels we have also documented a number of shorts and interviews with a full range of interesting characters we have met along the way. These include several more detailed interviews that have been filmed over the last few years on our trips to the Southern States. Each presents a compelling story.
